On March 24, as reported in a press announcement from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through SAMHSA, announced two Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) funding opportunities to increase access to evidence-based mental health and substance use services for all Americans.
The CCBHC model is transforming behavioral health systems, and since its inception, Congress has invested billions of dollars, including $420 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan, into SAMHSA's CCBHC grants.
The first of the two grant programs is the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic - Planning, Development, and Implementation (CCBHC-PDI) grant, which will assist clinics in establishing and implementing new CCBHC programs. SAMHSA anticipates awarding up to 156 grants of up to $1,000,000 each for this program. The application deadline is May 17, 2022.
The second of the two grant programs is the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic - Improvement and Advancement (CCBHC-IA) grant, which will support existing CCBHCs to enhance their programs. Similar to the other CCBHC grant program, SAMHSA anticipates awarding up to 156 grants of up to $1,000,000 each for this program. The deadline for this application is also May 17, 2022.
